Cooper Flagg Will Not Be A Sixer

A 10.5% chance to get the first overall pick and unfortunately, the lottery balls did not go the Sixers way. Now, they could have gone a lot worse as there was the potential that the Sixers were going to have to give up their pick to the Thunder. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case and they actually moved up into the top 4.

ESPN did everything they could do give Sixers fans a heart attack as they said on the broadcast originally the Sixers lost their pick before correcting themselves and it was in fact the Sixers who moved into the top 4.

It came down to the Sixers, Hornets, Spurs, and Mavericks to determine who would be selecting 1st overall.

We saw the 4th pick come up and our hopes for Cooper Flagg grew even more…And then

Look, this could have gone a hell of a lot worse for them as we could’ve lost the pick entirely. Ending up at 3rd gives the Sixers some solid options for who they can take or even the possibility of trading it for another asset.

We all wanted Flagg, he is someone that would’ve gotten me fully back on board the Sixers bandwagon. Yes, picking 3rd overall is still great. It was more about the excitement that Flagg would’ve brought here, he is looking like he will be a NBA superstar one day. Morey couldn’t screw it up if he landed the first overall pick. Now though, who knows what is going to happen and based off his track record it is hard to fully trust him.

Sure, maybe this year was a fluke because of all the injuries and next year they will be back to competing for a playoff spot. I just find it hard to think that Paul George(another year older), Joel Embiid(another surgery older), and the rest of the current roster are going to give us Championship hopes.

I will once again be taking a wait and see approach when it comes to the Sixers. I refuse to get fully invested into this team again until there is a legitimate reason to and right now there really isn’t.
