I want to start this by saying I am not the biggest NBA guy, I touched on that in the first post for this site(Check that out here). That being said, if there is something that could get me to invest in the Philadelphia Sixers again it would be them winning the NBA Draft lottery tonight.
This past season was the least amount of attention I paid to the Sixers since the process days. I think I watched maybe 2 games total but I mean can you blame me? Embiid was out most of the year, PG is old as dirt and missed a shit ton of time, they shut down Maxey towards the end of the year, and McCain didn’t play since December. If you actually watched the Sixers this past season props to you because I don’t know how you did it.
I genuinely tried to invest in the Sixers over the last 6 years as after the process there was legitimate excitement surrounding the team which we hadn’t had since Allen Iverson. I was fully in, I bought my Embiid and Simmons shirts I was going out to watch the playoffs games, hell we even did a live stream of one for Branded Sports. Then the Kawhi Leonard shot happened, then the 1st round loss to the Celtics, and then to top it all off the Ben Simmons meltdown.
It has been nothing but a miserable experience over the last six years for the Sixers. I have refused to get as invested in them until they get out of the first round of the playoffs and I had that same expectation for this year. Adding Paul George didn’t do anything for me and none of us knew what to expect from McCain, we were all thrilled that Tobias was gone but he at least made the playoffs!
I need a reason to get back invested in the Sixers and right now it’s hard to find one. Embiid is only getting older and his lower body is dust, Paul George is focused on podcasting, Maxey is the GOAT, McCain seems like he might actually be good, and Nick Nurse brought a Championship to Toronto so there’s that. But still that’s not enough for me to be invested in this team going into the 25-26 season.
I NEED COOPER FLAGG!!!!
We have a 10.5% chance of landing the first overall pick and ya know what thats good enough for me considering the most recent elected pope had worse odds and look what happend.
If an American can become the pope then the Sixers can damn sure win the NBA Draft lottery and end up with Cooper Flagg.
If they don’t win the lottery it’s going to take a hell of an offseaon from Daryl Morey to get me invested in this squad again.
