The Phillies Respond After A Bad Weekend

After what was just an absolute miserable weekend at Citizens Bank Park for the Phillies, a little trip North of the Border seems to have woken them up.

Orrrrr maybe it was the fact that Bryce Harper was back in the lineup for the first time since getting hit by a pitch by Spencer Strider. Either way the Phillies offense exploded against the Blue Jays in game 1 of this 3 game series.

Trea Turner got the party started with a two run blast and the Bryce Harper followed with a solo shot. The Phillies would send 11 batters to the plate in the first inning and put up 6 runs and would chase Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis after just 1.2 innings.

As great as the first inning was the Phillies would only add 1 more run in the second inning to extend their lead to 7-0. It would stay that way until the 5th when Davis Schneider would hit a solo shot to make it 7-1.

Trea Turner would add his second HR of the game in the 8th and the Phillies would go on to win the game 8-3.

Only three Phillies went without a hit in last nights win Brandon Marsh, Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber. Other than those three the boys were absolutely raking last night. Hopefully this a sign that the bats are awake again and they can carry this moment into the rest of the series.

Mick Abel will make his second major league start tonight, looking to have a repeat performance of his MLB debut.
