Will The Sixers Trade The 3rd Overall Pick?

Maybe it’s just the Twitter/X algorithm at this point but I feel like I have been seeing more and more rumors/scenarios of where the Sixers end up trading the 3rd overall pick instead of keeping it. Or just Sixers trade scenarios in general.

Now, obviously we knew this was going to be a possibility given they seems to still think their championship window is still open…I’ve been pretty clear that I do not believe that one bit. Paul George OLD, Joel Embiid NO KNEES/GETTING OLD, everyone else NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN. Thats was supposed to be like the opposite of the Jason Kelce speech idk if that came across the way I wanted it to.

Anyway the point is the Sixers aren’t good enough right now to win an NBA Championship. So, trading the 3rd overall pick sure they could get someone that might improve their chances but do we really trust Daryl Morey at this point?

I saw something about Jalen Brunson possibly being available? Anyone else see this or is this a pipe dream type thing? Anyway, I wouldn’t hate them using the 3rd pick in a package to get him but I just don’t know if that makes them any better then what they are now. I’d like to think it would but obviously the biggest question mark is what kind of Joel Embiid are we getting next season.

It’s a scary thought that pretty much the fate of the Sixers relies on a guy that let me put this nicely…Is unavailable more then he’s available. So In my humble, limited NBA knowledge opinion I do not think they should trade this pick. They need to draft a possible next superstar. Embiid doesn’t have much time left and they need to start building around younger players like Maxey and McCain.

Look at the current Western Conference Champions Oklahoma City Thunder…They tanked and stockpiled draft picks and have made a hell of a run and set their franchise up for years of success.

Yes, I am well aware we tried the whole tanking thing before and it didn’t work the way we hoped. But, it’s been a whileeeee(Staind Voice) since we’ve taken that approach and who knows maybe this time we could get it right. I don’t know and honestly I don’t care as much as if it were the Eagles or Flyers but I believe they should start building around younger talent and hold onto their draft picks.
