Porter Martone Is A Philadelphia Flyer

After a heartbreaking overtime loss on Saturday night to Wisconsin, Michigan State forward Porter Martone has officially signed his NHL contract.

Martone, the sixth overall pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft will join the Flyers for the remaining ten games of the season.

As a freshman Martone was Michigan State’s leading scorer with 25 goals and 24 assist for 49 points in 34 games. He was dominate this season for the Spartans leading them to an appearance in the NCAA tournament. While it didn’t end the way Martone and company had hoped it was still a very successful season.

Now, Martone will look to help the Flyers continue their push to the playoffs. After a 5-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings last night the Flyers now sit only 3 points back of the final wildcard playoff spot.

Martone could be in the lineup as early as Tuesday night against the Washington Capitals.

Adding him to the lineup for the Flyers could be a huge boost as he has potential to be a game breaker with his big body and offensive mindset. Flyers fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Martone and the time has officially arrived.

Is Martone the missing piece that will help get the Flyers back in the postseason for the first time in 5 years? We will find out over the next 10 games.
