The calendar says October, which means we are officially entering the best part of the NFL season.
The weather is getting colder, the games are getting more important, and somehow every fan base is still convinced their team is making the Super Bowl.
And honestly? I respect it.
Week 3 gave us plenty to talk about, but now we get a full 16-game slate in Week 4. We’ve got an international game, a battle between two undefeated AFC West teams, Cowboys-Texans, Rams-Eagles and a Monday night NFC South rivalry to close things out.
We went 6-10 last week that’s just unacceptable. No excuses just a poor showing from me. We’re onto week 4.
As always, these are Walsh’s Winners. I’m not claiming to be an expert. I’m just a guy who watches way too much football and is willing to put his reputation on the line every Sunday.
Let’s get into it.
Thursday Night Football
Steelers @ Browns
Walsh’s Winner: Steelers
Thursday night football is usually where good football goes to die.
But I’m taking Pittsburgh here.
The Steelers finally got their offense moving last week, and I’m going to trust that momentum against a Browns team that I still don’t completely believe in.
Give me Pittsburgh to win this one by a field goal.
Sunday Morning — London 🇬🇧
Colts @ Commanders
Walsh’s Winner: Colts
There is nothing better than waking up on a Sunday morning and immediately having football on.
Unless you’re waking up hungover.
Then there are few things worse.
Indianapolis is coming off a win over Houston, while Washington just knocked off Seattle. This feels like one of those games where everyone is going to convince themselves the Commanders are actually good.
I’m not buying it yet.
1:00 PM Games
Patriots @ Bills
Walsh’s Winner: Bills
Buffalo is 3-0.
New England is not.
That’s about as complicated as I’m making this one.
Josh Allen at home. Bills Mafia. Early October.
Give me Buffalo.
Jets @ Bears
Walsh’s Winner: Jets
This is exactly the type of game I normally hate picking.
Two teams that could look completely different by halftime. Case Kennum made the Birds look stupid on Monday night. I think the Jets might actually have a better defense than the Eagles at this point so I’m taking the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
Jaguars @ Bengals
Walsh’s Winner: Jaguars
Jacksonville is 2-1 and looked damn good last week.
Meanwhile, Cincinnati just lost to Pittsburgh and now has to deal with a Jaguars team that appears to be playing with some confidence.
Give me Trevor Lawrence and the Jags getting points.
Cardinals @ Giants
Walsh’s Winner: Cardinals
This is another game where I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.
So naturally, I’m picking it.
Arizona has enough talent for me to trust them as a short favorite.
Don’t ask me to explain it any further.
Rams @ Eagles
Walsh’s Winner: Go Birds Dickhead
Here we go.
After getting embarrassed in Chicago on Monday night, the Eagles come home with something to prove.
And this is exactly the kind of spot where I want to take Philly.
Jalen Hurts vs. Matthew Stafford.
Two really good teams.
Home field.
And a Philadelphia fan base that is going to be ready to boo them out of the stadium if they start slowly.
I’m backing the Birds.
Packers @ Buccaneers
Walsh’s Winner: Packers
Green Bay got punched in the mouth last week.
I think they bounce back.
Tampa is still searching for answers, and I’m expecting the Packers to control this game from the start.
Titans @ Ravens
Walsh’s Winner: Ravens
This is a lot of points.
I don’t care.
Give me Baltimore.
The Ravens should be able to control this game on both sides of the ball, and I don’t trust Tennessee to keep up.
Cowboys @ Texans
Walsh’s Winner: Texans
The Battle of Texas.
Dallas is coming off another frustrating week, and Houston desperately needs to get something going.
This feels like one of those games where the Cowboys do enough to make their fans think they’re going to win…
…and then completely screw it up.
I’ll take Houston at home.
4:05 PM Dolphins @ Vikings
Walsh’s Winner: Vikings
Minnesota is 3-0.
Miami is 0-3.
Do I really need to explain this one?
Probably not.
4:25 PM — Game of the Week
Chiefs @ Raiders
Walsh’s Winner: Chiefs
Now THIS is what I want from the NFL.
Two undefeated teams.
A division rivalry.
Late afternoon.
Las Vegas.
This is going to be a fun one.
Everyone is going to want to take Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, but I’m taking the points.
I think the Raiders keep this thing close all afternoon. But the Chiefs are still the Chiefs.
Chargers @ Seahawks
Walsh’s Winner: Chargers
Seattle at home is different.
The Chargers are talented, but traveling across the country and playing in Seattle is not exactly my idea of a good time.
Give me the Chargers though going to trust Herbie in this one.
Broncos @ 49ers
Walsh’s Winner: 49ers
San Francisco is 3-0.
Brock Purdy is playing some extremely efficient football.
And now they get Denver at home.
I’m not overthinking this one.
Sunday Night Football Lions @ Panthers
Walsh’s Winner: Lions
This game has potential to get weird.
But Detroit is the better football team.
Give me the Lions to take care of business on Sunday night.
Monday Night Football
Falcons @ Saints
Walsh’s Winner: Saints
Monday night in New Orleans.
Division rivalry.
Crowd going absolutely insane.
Yeah, I’m taking the Saints.
This feels like a game where New Orleans makes just enough plays late to steal it.
Overall Record: 28-20
